Week Two Part 1

Which social media platforms seem geared towards personal use? Why do you think so?
The platforms that I believe this works well for personal use will be Slack and Linkedin. These sites help the individual on job hunting and build a network. The other will help the individual at a company. The Department will use a communication app so all personal in that specific department can communicate with one another easily.
Slack is a good app for a company to use. For example when I was in the Media Arts and Technologies class Advance Design. The professors of that class told us that slack is a good way to communicate with our assigned team members for client design projects we will work on. Slack was useful so I can go on one team I was in and communicate with them on project due dates, design critiques and revisions. It is a useful app for company use like a tech firm or other companies that are team and department oriented.
Linkedin was a good way to find a job and help to get notice be other colleagues in your field. For example they will have job post that say a person that went to the users former school or job works at that job. It will help if the person knows each other or the person wants to get the users foot in the door who may just graduated.
Which ones seem to work better for business? What makes them seem more suitable to business use?
Slack works best for company use. Since giving a chain of emails that may spread company wide and people may get confused if they receive an email thats not for them. The app has designed pages for a specific department or project. So if manager of department A wants to send a message for the workers the manager can easily and efficiently.
The app is easy to download and doesn't take much up in storage on a device. It's simple and ready to go. The app is customizable for the user if they want to have fun with it. It's easy to use and it has a tutorial for users who are not tech savvy that are easy to read and use.
For each department or project they will be separated in individual areas called servers. For Example if you work in Project A, B and C they will be separated and put into its own server. You can change the color of the text to make easier to read and you don't get confused if you click on the wrong server. The app is perfect for business use since its easy to navigate and has good organization techniques so people can work with trouble.
Do any seem to work well for both? How are they used differently?
Well the platforms are different in way of use. One is to help find a job and build networking skills. It also helps with skill that haven't been used in a while in the for of quick quizzes and tests. The other is a social for meeting up with team members and talk about the project due dates and progression on projects for companies.
Linkedin is good for finding jobs and internships. It helps the user get his or her foot in the door in their career field. It helps you on making a resume and cover letter so you can stand out on the users job hunt. They have many ways to help you on remembering your skills like quick test and it also matches you to a job that has been recently posted. Job recruiters can send messages to the user if they are a good fit to a company.

Slack is all about communication and works best to talk with project managers and department heads. You can send private messages and post on the main chat about what is happening at work. The App can is customizable if you want to make your account an extension of you.

  1. Hey Jordan,
I personally have never used either one of these platforms I just go need to finish the hw and reply to the prompt. I can agree with your view that slack works best after just researching it. I also like the theme of your page except that the words go off the page and are hard to read. otherwise I like your page.
